Private Sewage Treatment System InformationFor tips on Private Sewage Systems check out the Private Sewage Treatment Systems Tips and Advisories on the Alberta Municipal Affairs website.
Privage Sewage Treatment SystemsThe Alberta Standard of Practice 1999 identifies the objectives of Private Sewage Systems and sets out the minimum requirments for Health, Safety and Structural sufficiency for private sewage systems. Sewage contains chemical and biological constituents that can cause environmental and public health problems or nuisances if the waste is not safely treated and disposed. Of particular importance is the treatment and safe disposal of sewage to prevent the contamination of food or water and to prevent the incidence and transmission of disease.
A Private Sewage Disposal System (PSDS), permit may only be issued to a person who has a valid trade certificate as a plumber or a private sewage system installer or a land owner whom resides on the property.
All permit applications will be reviewed prior to issuance of the permit. The application shall show full design specification as noted on permit application and the accompanying drawing. The City of Camrose may require both soil-classification by an independent laboratory and percolation test reults prior to processing the permit application. The Alberta Privage Sewage Systems Standard of Practive 1999 hand book which is an excellent resource material is available online at www.municipalaffairs.gov.ab.ca/ss_handbook_index.htm.
Under no circumstances may the work be covered prior to permit issuance or inspection. For on-line, printable version of the private sewage permit, click on the private sewage permit link on the following page:

Public HearingsCity Council holds public hearings regarding rezoning applications, discretionary use applications, proposed street and lane closures, municipal development plan amendments, and other specific public issues.
The public may make written or verbal presentations at a public hearing . The Mayor will invite those present in the public gallery to address Council on the subject matter and you will be welcome to come forward and offer your comments. Following your presentation, Council may ask you questions and you will be given an opportunity to respond. Once all persons have been heard, the Mayor will declare the "hearing closed" and City Council will then debate the matter and come to a decision or refer the matter to a Committee of Council or a subsequent Council meeting. If you wish to use audio-visuals during your presentation, the following equipment is available:
Arrangements should be made through the Corporate and Protective Services office for use of such equipment prior to the meeting.
