Heating Permits

For new construction: a Residential Heating System Permit is included within the Building Permit Fee and paid for within the Building Permit Application.

All high efficient furnace installations will require a permit.

A Heating Permit may only be issued for a forced air, or Hydronic Heating System alteration, appliance replacement, solid fuel appliance, or new heating system installation. A Gas Permit for any of the above may as well be required to alter, install or renew any portion of the gas piping. A heating permit cannot be issued to replace a commericial water heater, a gas permit is required.

Combination hydronic heating systems are approved under certain conditions.

A complete set of plans and specifications must be submitted for review before a Primary Hydronic Heating System permit is issued and construction begins so as an acceptable level of performance may be maintained for all installations.

Solid fuel appliances: All solid fuel appliances require a heating permit prior to commencement of work. An inspection must be done prior to closing of appliance and venting system.
