Permanent Operator - The Utilities Department

The City of Camrose is seeking an individual for a full time permanent Operator 1 position. The primary intend of this position is to be responsible for the installation and maintenance of the Utilities Water Metering system. Duties will include meter reading, meter installation, service work, customer complaint investigation, meter account investigation and reporting. The person hired for this position will, from time to time, assist with the water and sanitary excavations, water and wastewater collection station operations and maintenance, maintenance and operations in the waste water collection system, water distribution system, and the water treatment facility.

Qualified candidates will be grade 12 graduates who have completed a recognized water and wastewater program by Alberta Environment Protection or equivalent, with a minimum of Level 1 certification in one or all the disciplines of water distribution, wastewater collection and wastewater treatment. Candidates not possessing the necessary certifications may be considered at a development level. Candidates must have demonstrated decision making, initiative, teamwork, computer skills, and communication skills along with a mechanical aptitude. The successful candidate must be highly motivated and have a high level of independence. The successful candidate must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and be able to obtain a valid class 3 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’s License with air brake endorsement within the probationary period. The candidate will have to meet City “on –call protocols” for this position and will be required to participate in the On-Call rotation of the Utilities Department.

This is a Union Position with in CUPE Local #1425 and as such is subject to the terms, conditions and benefits set out in the current collective agreement between the City of Camrose and Local #1425.

Permanent Labourer - The Utilities Department

The City of Camrose is seeking an individual for a full time permanent labour position. The primary intend of this position is to be responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Utilities Storm Sewer System. The person hired for this position will, from time to time will assist the excavation crew on water and sanitary excavations, water and wastewater collection station operations and maintenance, maintenance and operations in the waste water collection system, water distribution system, and the water treatment facility.

Qualified candidates will be grade 12 graduates with a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Candidates must be able to obtain a valid class 3 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’s License including air brake endorsement within the probationary period.

Candidates will have to demonstrate decision making, map reading, planning, initiative, teamwork, computer skills, reporting, and communication skills along with a mechanical aptitude.
