Yellow Fish Road

The Yellow Fish Road is a project initiated by Trout Unlimited Canada. Children are involved in painting a yellow fish symbol beside storm drains in the city.

The Yellow Fish Road Program reflects the desire to protect our aquatic resources for both this and future generations of Canadians.
Over use of pesticides and fertilizers results in these chemicals being washed down storm drains and into our lakes and streams. This affects our water quality.

The Yellow Fish Road Program educates the public about the dangers of dumping unwanted household chemicals, used motor oil, paints, solvents, cigarette butts, etc., onto lanes, streets, or empty lots, so that they will be washed down urban storm drains.

Anything entering storm drains goes untreated into the nearest stream. This can harm wildlife, and reduce water quality.

The Yellow Fish Road Program is a hands-on environment project that allows youth to make a difference in their community.

Yellow Fish Road volunteers paint fish symbols beside storm drains. They distribute brochures to households.
The yellow symbol serves as a reminder that unwanted household products should never be dumped, or end up in these curbside drains.
