Water Conservation and Preservation

The City of Camrose has numerous projects in place to ensure that the citizens of Camrose are aware of water conservation and preservation. Many of these projects involve youths in Camrose.

Here are some useful links providing more information on these programs and what citizens can do to contribute to our water conservation and preservation efforts.

Yellow Fish Road

Yellow Fish Road is a program in which local youth paint yellow fish symbols by the storm sewer catch basins (the places along the roadways where rainwater and melting snow collect). The yellow fish symbolize the animals in the environment where this melted snow and rainwater eventually end up.

Water Watchdog

The Water Watchdog Progam is an initiative of "Partners for the Saskatchewan River Basin". This program encourages participants to take action by testing and reporting on the quality of the water in their own backyard streams and rivers, lakes and ponds.

Household Hazardous Waste Exchange

Many items we use in our daily lives can result in some type of waste. These wastes can be damaging to our environment and to us. This program allow us to gather and properly dispose of these household hazardous wastes.

Water Quality Awareness Day

Communities all over Alberta are conducting water monitoring. This event allows for the community to perform numerous water moritoring tests and gives them access to a wealth of information about water programs in the community.

Water Conservation

Efforts towards reducing the amount of waste you use can make a big difference for (a) the watershed, (b) your utility bill and (c) extend the use of the Water Treatment Plant. You can significantly reduce your water consumption by implementing some of the following conservation tips. We are asking for your co-operation to reduce the amount of water you use. It will help us maintain service, be better for the watershed, and save your money.
