The Rules: Slow Down and Think
Always use crosswalks and pedestrian activated signals when they
are available (Unsafe mid-block crossing is the biggest reason why children get hurt).
Walk across the street. Don't run!
Continue to look for oncoming traffic when crossing the street. (Remember
to consider size of vehicles, speed of vehicles, road and weather conditions, and watch for turning vehicles.)- Be especially careful if there are driveways or alleys nearby.
If a parked vehicle is blocking your view, take no more than 3 steps to see around the vehicle. Never go past the outer edge of the vehicle.
