What You Can Do
Watch for vehicles turning right on a red light.
They might not be looking for you.- Choose the safest route possible. Plan your route with your parents.
Walk across the street. Don't run.
Point (in the direction you want to go), Pause (check that it is safe), and Proceed.- Be extra alert at driveways, and near parked cars.
Always walk on the sidewalk. If there is no sidewalk and you have to walk on the road,
always walk towards traffic so you can see any car that might go out of control.- Obey all stop signs, signals, and traffic lights. Then stop and look left, right, and left again before entering traffic. Remembering that traffic
signs and lights can not see if it is safe to cross. You can!
Wear bright clothing and reflective gear to help cars see you.
