REUSE
Reuse means to use something over and over again. The item can often be used in many
different ways. When we reuse things we do not use new materials. We try to
find a way to use what we already have. When you reuse:
- You save the materials that item is made from,
- You save all the energy that went into making that item (less mining, less drilling for oil and gas, less tree-cutting, less use of our fresh water supplies, less use of energy and chemicals and less pollution)
- Fewer items end up filling up our landfill
- You save all the energy and raw materials (natural resources) that would be used to make a new replacement for that item
- Save the money that would be spent to recycle, landfill, or burn the item
- Save money at home and work
Think! How can you reuse what you already have instead of buying something new!
Most of the materials used to make products are made from natural resources.
Only ten percent of all the products made are things that people need in order to survive.
We will run out of some of these natural resources in your lifetime. These resources are non-renewable. That means that when these things are gone, there will never be any more.
