Recycling is saving old things so that they can be made into something new.




Recycling uses:

  • new energy,
  • some new materials, and
  • chemicals to make used things into new things. (This creates some added air, water, and soil pollution.)

Interesting Statistics

The Centra-Cam Recycling Depot recycled:
  • Cardboard 680 metric tonnes (11,560 trees)
  • Newsprint 400 metric tonnes (6,800) trees
  • Mixed Paper 175 metric tonnes (2,975 trees)
  • Glossy Magazines 54 metric tonnes (918 trees)
  • Office Paper 40 metric tonnes (680 trees)
Total : 1349 metric tonnes

(That is 22,933 mature trees that were saved by recycling at Centra-Cam in one year!)
