Cardboard Recycling
Cardboard should be free from oil and grease. You can flatten the boxes to conserve space.
Remember to rinse out cardboard milk containers to remove smells before you take them to the recycling depot.
When you go to the recycling depot, put the cardboard and cardboard milk containers into the bins.
Then the cardboard will be placed into a special machine called a baler. The baler presses the cardboard very tightly into bales.
Cardboard is then placed into a pulper.
Water and chemicals are added to make a soggy, mushy pulp.
Pulp is cleaned, de-inked, and dried into flat rolls of paper.
Paper is sold to a manufacturer who will make different papers into cardboard for new boxes, containers, and packaging.
Newspaper - insulation, pet bedding
Phone books - pet bedding
White paper - note pads
Most recycled cardboard is made into new cardboard boxes.
