Camrose Water System
The Camrose Water Treatment Plant, constructed in 1986, is capable of servicing over 20,000 people. When the population of Camrose exceeds 20,000, the plant can be twinned to increase the water that it can treat. With proper care and maintenance the Camrose Water Treatment Plant is expected to remain in service for at least 50 years. The plant design is flexible enough to allow continuing process changes as technology advances and regulations change. All water used in Camrose is supplied from the midpoint of Dried Meat Lake, located 13-km southeast of Camrose on the Battle River. Each drop of water that enters the treatment system takes approximately five days to treat and distribute. The Camrose Water System is run as a separate utility, funded entirely by water rates (user fees). No municipal tax revenue is used to support the water system. A full description of the water rates is available. The Camrose WaterWorks By-law, adopted August 14, 2000, regulates water use in Camrose, and sets up the terms and conditions of providing service to customers.
The image above shows the 3 main sections of the City of Camrose water treatment process. These images and the subject headings beneath them, will be on every page you view. The subject headings will be your main navigation tool if you want to move from section to section. If you would like to proceed through the pages in order as the water flows use the "next" buttons located on the bottom of each page. The "home" button will return you to this page. As well, the smaller images will expand when clicked on. |
