49 Avenue - 50 to 53 Street Reconstruction

Project Profile:
The 2008 City of Camrose Capital Budget includes the roadway reconstruction of 49th Avenue between 50 Street and 53 Street.
The City of Camrose will host an open house for abutting property owners and area businesses to gather input on the roadway design alternatives which includes on street parking options, drainage issues in the area and access issues during construction etc.
The 49th Avenue project will be staged to some extent with the east block (50 St – 51 St) seeing spot road repairs and an asphalt overlay. The westerly two blocks (51 St – 53 St) will require the total reconstruction of the roadways, including:
- Salvage of the existing roadway pavements and gravel structure
- Excavation of road base to provide for the placement of granular structure
- Removal of the existing landscaping in the boulevards to accommodate re-grading
- Removal and replacement of the existing concrete sidewalks, curb & gutters
- Asphalt Paving (two separate placements of asphalt, to a total depth of 125mm)
- Boulevard topsoil replacement and landscaping with grass sod
Engineering:
The design and site supervision of this project will be conducted by the City Engineering Department.
Contractor:
Jo's Concrete Services Ltd. was awarded the contract for the concrete work.
Border Paving Ltd. was awarded the contract for the road excavation and asphalt paving components of this project.
Budget and Funding:
The projected is estimated to cost $650,000.
Schedule:
Concrete work has been completed on the west half. Road excavation and gravel base construction is currently taking place. Paving is scheduled to follow.
