56 Street Reconstruction 46 to 48 Avenue

Project Profile:
This project was approved by City Council in 2006 and
carried forward into the 2007 construction season.
The 56 Street project will involve the total reconstruction of the roadways, including:
- Salvage of the existing roadway pavements and gravel structure
- Excavation of the road base to provide for the placement of granular structure
- Removal of the existing landscaping in the boulevards to accommodate re-grading
- Removal and replacement of the existing concrete sidewalks, curb & gutters
- Asphalt Paving (75mm depth)
- Boulevard topsoil replacement and landscaping with grass sod
Adjacent roadways and lanes will provide an alternative access to homes in the area.
Engineering:
The design and site supervision of this project will be conducted by the City Engineering
Department.
Contractor:
Border Paving Ltd. has been awarded the contract for the road work.
Joe's Concrete Services Ltd. was awarded the contract for the concrete work.
Budget and Funding:
This project is estimated to cost $410,000.
Schedule:
This project was completed by the end of October.
