46 Street 52B Avenue / North Ring Road Storm Drainage Channel

Project Profile:
Please see the 2006 component of this project for background information.
The 2007 component of this project will involve:
- Completion of the new drainage ditch near and upstream of the ATCO line, including adding erosion
control & re-vegetation.
- Completing connection of the existing storm line into the new drainage ditch.
- Removal of the temporary storm drainage ditch North of the properties along 55 Ave and
construction of the permanent drainage swale which will provide the back-of-lot drainage
for these properties.
- Finalizing the shaping of the noise berm (smoothing, re-vegetation) North of the properties along 55 Ave.
- Covering of topsoil along the entire project area & re-vegetation.
The City has been working with the Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans, as well as with Alberta Environment
to ensure that all works are completed in such a manner as to minimize impacts to the environment and fish habitat.
This project has been approved by both departments. Approvals have also been obtained from Navigable Waters Protection,
Transport Canada.
Engineering:
The design and site supervision of this project will be conducted by
Associated Engineering and the City
Engineering Department .
Contractor:
Kran Construction has been awarded the contract for the storm drainage channel construction.
Budget and Funding:
The 2007 component of this project has a budget of $500,000.
The project is funded entirely by the City of Camrose under debenture borrowing.
Schedule:
- Existing storm drain pipe from 46th Street has now been connected to the new storm channel.
- Erosion control on all sections of the new channel was completed in late September.
- Site cleanup and re-vegetation to be completed by early spring 2008.

soil erosion in the area. |

| August 9 - Sections of concrete pipe (right) will be installed to connect the recently installed concrete storm
pipes for the Rosebud residential development (installed in 2003) to the new storm channel. |
August 28 - Placement of concrete at manhole around new connection point. |

| August 28 - Placement of sand around 1500mm concrete pipe. |
September 20 - Cleanup of accumulated silt from Camrose Creek. |

| September 23 - Construction of North Ring Road subgrade completed and covered with topsoil, prior
to seeding; completion of noise berm prior to planting of trees. |
