Project Profile: Accelerating asphalt distress / failures and the associated high maintenance costs involved have brought this project to the top of the City's priority list. The City of Camrose has hired an engineering consultant (Infrastructure Systems Ltd.) of Edmonton to investigate and provide the most cost effective alternate to manage the roadway structure. While some concrete curb replacement will take place, the majority of the work will involve planing (grinding) a layer of the existing road surface and adding an asphalt overlay. The depth of grinding and thickness of the overlay will vary depending on the existing condition and the extent of cracking. Section of 68 Street / Camrose Drive will be closed to vehicle for the duration of the asphalt paving construction, approximately 1 week. Adjacent roadways will provide an alternative access. The City will provide notice of the upcoming work in an effort to minimize the impact to area residents and the motoring public. ![]() Engineering: The design and site supervision of this project will be conducted by the City Engineering Department and Infrastructure Systems Ltd. Contractor: To be determined. Budget and Funding: The 2004 component of the roadway rehabilitation project is estimated to cost $1,450,000.00 with approximately one million of that amount paid by grant funding and the other ½ million by the City at large. Schedule: Tender award goes to City Council on August 9th. Construction will involve geometric changes to road alignment at the intersections prior to overlay. Completion expected by the end of September. Public Notice: For More Information Contact the Engineering Department at 672-4428. |
