Project Profile: The 2004 City of Camrose -Capital Budget included the roadway construction of 46th Street between 52 and 54 Avenues including abutting road tie-ins. The Storm Sewer and water and sewer service replacements were completed on these blocks last fall. We allow at least one freeze / thaw cycle to assist in the settlement prior to road construction. The roadway project includes excavation of the existing road base and backfill with road base gravel (completed last fall). In 2004 we will install new concrete curbs & sidewalks, asphalt paving and boulevard landscaping. The City hosted an open house for the effected residents in the fall of 2002 to discuss the local improvement costs, project schedule and get input from property owners about existing problems such as drainage, access issues during construction etc. 46th Street will be closed to vehicle traffic for short durations during construction. Fortunately lanes provide an alternative access for the residents in the area, although special arrangements will have to be made to accommodate a few of the business's which front on the street. ![]() Engineering: The design and site supervision of this project will be conducted by the City Engineering Department. Contractor: Central Oilfield Services Ltd. and Jo's Concrete Services Ltd. have been awarded the contracts for this project. Paving contract will be awarded at City Council on July 26th. Budget and Funding: The 2004 roadway local improvement project is estimated to cost $730,000.00 with approximately 1/3 paid by the adjacent property owners and 2/3 paid by the City at large. Schedule: Concrete work was completed by September and the majority of the bottom lift paving was completed by October. The remaining work has been postponed until July 2005. Photos:
