Project Profile:
This project involves the reconstruction of an existing paved lane in the area south & west of 43 Avenue.
Asphalt failures along the lane and high maintenance costs associated with these failures prompted the City to initiate a local improvement to repave the lane.
An open house was held in 2002 providing property owners with an opportunity to discuss the scope of the project and costs, as well as giving us the opportunity to receive input from property owners about existing problems such as drainage and access requirements during any future construction.
Engineering:
The design and site supervision of this project will be conducted by the City Engineering Department.
Contractor:
Border Paving Ltd. was awarded the contract for this project.
Budget and Funding:
The 2004 lane paving local improvement project is estimated to cost $75,000 with funding by local improvement to the adjacent owners.
Schedule:
- A local improvement bylaw was iniciated by the City of Camrose.
- The local improvement bylaw was passed the end of August 2003.
- The City of Camrose undertook an excavation of the lane base to eliminate frost heave problems in late October.
- Utilities exist within the construction zone and will have to be lowered in the spring of 2004, closely followed by lane reconstruction and paving in the summer of 2004.
