Rosehaven Area Paving, Curbs, Sidewalks,
Boulevards and Asphalt Overlay
Partially Funded by:

Project Profile:
Phase 2 of a 4 part Construction Program involves 4 Projects:
- Asphalt paving of 47 Avenue (53-57 Street):
This project is a carry over from 2001 and will involve the asphalt
paving of 47th Avenue, between 53rd and 57th Streets. This
is the first stage of a two phase project to reconstruct this busy corridor.
- Asphalt overlay of 47 Avenue (57 Street to Mount Pleasant Drive):
This project is the second stage of a two phased project to reconstruct
this busy corridor. Asphalt failures on sections of roadway and poor
riding comfort have prompted the City to initiate a local improvement to overlay
the road surface with hot mix asphalt.
- Roadway Re-construction of 55 Street (47-48 Avenue):
The water main, and water
and sewer service replacements were completed on this block last fall. We allow at least one freeze thaw cycle to
assist in the trench settlements before constructing roadway surface
improvements. The roadway project involves the excavation of the existing
road base and backfill with road base gravel (completed last fall). The 2002
work involves the installation of new concrete curbs and sidewalks, asphalt
paving and boulevard sod work. The City will host an open house for residents on 55th Street
in the Spring of 2002, to discuss the local improvement costs, project schedule
and get input from property owners about existing problems such as drainage,
access issues during construction, etc. 55th Street will be closed to vehicle traffic during
construction. Fortunately lanes provide an alternative access in these areas.
- Roadway Re-construction of 57 Street (46-47 Avenue) and 46 Avenue (56-57 Street):
The roadway project involves the excavation of the existing road base and
backfill with road base gravel followed by the installation of new concrete
curbs and sidewalks, asphalt paving and boulevard sod work. The City will host an open house for residents on 57th Street in
the Summer of 2002, to discuss local improvement costs, project scheduling and
to receive input from property owners about existing problems such as drainage, access
issues during construction, etc. 57th Street and 46th Avenue will be closed to vehicle
traffic on a block by block basis during construction. Fortunately lanes provide
an alternative access in these areas.
