Water Main Replacement Program Partially Funded by: Project Profile:
The Watermain Replacement Program is an on going program to replace old cast iron water mains throughout the City. The program has been in place since approximately 1983.
City Public Works has determined that 54th Street is the highest priority location based on the poor condition of the water line.
A temporary water service will be installed to provide water to any one affected by the water main replacement.
54th Street will be closed to vehicles for the duration of the construction, approximately 3 weeks. Adjacent roadways and lanes will provide an alternative access to homes in the area.
Engineering
Design and site supervision of this project will be conducted by the City Engineering Department.
Contractor
Central Oilfield Inc. was selected as the prime contractor in a public tender process in 2001.
Budget and Funding
The total project budget is $155,000 with funding from City water rates and grant funding.
Schedule
The project started on September 10, 2002 and take approximately three weeks.
Curb, gutter and sidewalks expected in 2003.
