50 Avenue Overlay (53 Street - 58 Street) Partially Funded by: Project Profile:
50th Avenue was reconstructed to it's current width and design standard in 1992. The water main was also replaced during construction, requiring deep excavations within the roadway. The final lift of asphalt was not constructed at that time in order to allow for any settlement to occur.
Although the City planned to construct the final lift within five years, subsequent funding cuts by the Provincial Government prevented the construction.
The final lift (asphalt overlay), is scheduled for 2002, and will result in a new asphalt surface and permanent line markings.
