This project includes lane maintenance and an asphalt overlay on the Lane east of Main Street (50 Street) between 49 Avenue and 50 Avenue.

Project Scope |
Project Description
Asphalt failures along the lane and the high maintenance costs associated with these failures prompted the City to initiate a local improvement to repave the lane.
A notice of local improvement and date for an open house will be sent to the abutting property owners in the spring of 2001.
An open house will provide property owners with an opportunity to discuss the project schedule and costs, as well as giving us the opportunity to receive input from property owners about existing problems such as drainage and access requirements during construction etc.
If the project proceeds, Atco gas would take advantage of the lane construction to replace the existing gas services to customers along the lane.
Budget and Funding - The 2001 lane paving local improvement project is estimated to cost $35,000.00 with funding by local improvement to the adjacent owners at 65% of the project cost.

A local improvement By-law was given first reading in Council August 13, 2001

An open house was held August 28, 2001 for effected property owners.

The Lane Paving / reconstruction, originally planned to in September or October, 2001 , has been deffered until the summer of 2002. Construction is expected to take two weeks.
Adjacent property owners will be contacted prior to construction to discuss the project details including schedule and business access.
