73 Street Construction

Project Profile

73 Street is being extended South of 48 Avenue to provide Access to the new Superstore Development.  73 Street will  be a municipal roadway which will eventually service both the highway commercial area, and the residential area to the South.

Description

With development of the Superstore South of 48 Avenue, 73 Street is being constructed as the primary access.  While it will only serve the Superstore Site for now, it will eventually be the primary access to the Highway Commercial property South of 48 Avenue, and may also service as an access to the residential area to the South.

The project will include:

  • Adding a fourth traffic signal arm on the North side of 48 Avenue at the 73 street intersection to accommodate North Bound Traffic,

  • Constructing the south side of the intersection and 73 street South to the Superstore access,

  • Installing a Sidewalk along the East side of 73 Street, and

  • Installing and landscaping a boulevard.

While the East side of the roadway will be finished, the West Curb, Sidewalk and street lighting will be omitted until further development occurs.

ISL Engineering of Edmonton, were selected to design the project.

City Engineering Services staff provided construction supervision.
