53a Avenue and 52 Street Paving Program Partially Funded by: Project ProfileThis project replaced the pavement on 53a Avenue between 52 Street and 53 street, and on 52 Street between 53 Avenue and 54 Avenue.
DescriptionThe pavement in this area had deteriorated to the point where it had to replaced. The underground services and most of the curbs were inspected and are in reasonable condition. In the spring of 2000 the City hosted an open house for residents on 53a Avenue and 52 Street to discuss the project schedule and get input from property owners about existing problems such as drainage, water or sewer and access issues during construction. Unfortunately the project was delayed because the Contractor, Border Paving, was too busy on other priority areas (Primarily Camrose West End). Sewer services were video inspected over the winter months to minimize the chances of having to excavate the proposed roadway construction in the near future. The road construction was scheduled in sections so that not all the road is closed at once. Fortunately lanes will provide an alternative access to homes in the area. Budget and Funding - The total project budget is $140,000.00. The paving project is funded 1/3 by local property owners and 2/3 City of Camrose. The property owners have the choice of either paying their share in a lump sum, or apply the cost to their taxes over a 10 year period. Schedule - Road base work was completed in July. Paving was completed in September. For More Information Contact the Engineering Department at 672-4428. |
