Project Profile

The Water Main Replacement Program is an on going program to replace old cast iron water mains throughout the City.  The program has been in place since approximately 1983.

This year the Bethany area has been targeted.  The 2001 project will include Water Main Replacement as well as replacement of the water and sewer services between the main and the property lines.

The project must be coordinated with the roadwork planned this year on 47 Avenue. (Paving delayed to 2002)

Once the Water Main work on 55 Street is completed, the road will be reconstructed to a gravel standard.  A Road Renewal project is scheduled in 2002 which will include paving, curbs and sidewalks.

55th Street  and 47 Avenue will be closed to vehicles for the duration of the construction (approximately 3 weeks).  Adjacent roadways and lane will provide an alternative access to homes in the area.  (Note 47 Avenue will be closed for a longer period due to the Roadway Construction.

Budget and Funding - The total project budget is $172,000 with funding from City water rates.

Schedule - The project was completed in the fall of 2001.
