47 Avenue Roadway Re-Construction ![]() Project ProfileReplace the Water Main and Re-construct the Road, Curb, Sidewalks and Boulevard on 47 Avenue between 53 Street and 57 Street.
Project DescriptionThe 2001 City of Camrose Capital Budget includes roadway reconstruction of 47th Avenue between 53 and 57 Streets. This is the first stage of a two phase project to reconstruct this busy corridor. The second phase will continue the project West to Mount Pleasant Drive. Before the road work began the existing "Cast Iron" water main on 47 Avenue had to be replaced. A temporary water service was installed to provide water to anyone affected by the water main replacement. 47th Avenue was closed off to vehicles for the duration of the construction, approximately 6 weeks. Adjacent roadways provided an alternative access to homes in the area. Budget and Funding - The 2001 roadway local improvement project is estimated to cost $314,000.00 with approximately 1/2 paid by grant funding and the other 1/2 by the City at large. Schedule - The water main replacement started late as the contractor was delayed with his obligations at the New Superstore site. Once the watermain was complete, Branco Concrete began the process of replacing the curb and sidewalk. Unfortunately with the lateness of the year, the project was not able to be completed. Some concrete work, the roadway paving, and landscaping will be completed in 2002. Public Notice - Residents will be contacted individually prior to construction with a detailed schedule. Anyone with special needs, such as handicap access, needing truck access to the front for a move, are asked to contact Mark Barrett at 672-4428.
