Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian men. 1 in 7 Canadian men will be diagnosed with the disease in his lifetime. An estimated 11 Canadian men will die from prostate cancer every day.
The survival rate for prostate cancer can be close to 100% when detected early. Those with a family history of the disease, or those of African or Caribbean descent, are at a greater risk of developing prostate cancer.
The City of Camrose supports Prostate Cancer Canada and all individuals committed to raising awareness about prostate cancer. Therefore Mayor Norm Mayer, on behalf of Camrose City Council, proclaims September 2018 as “Prostate Cancer Awareness Month” in the City of Camrose.
